Project overview

Hi,

Finally we finished our project,Illuminate art, but not in way that we expect,we had some problems that in this part I would like to talk about it,also I would talk about my aim, and at the end, I will put some video and pictures from our final representation.

At the beginning, we were decide to use light (leds) and movement in our artistic project, in a middle,when we work with separate devices, we were decide to have more functionality to our design project like moving object and having sounds also using fan and make the artifact to work on a different way for having more interaction with the users.

we design and build every thing, every thing work well separately, but suddenly in last day, we had connectivity problem within different functionality, we were work till last second on it, but unfortunately we couldn't fix it and show to our guests. in our final presentation we mentioned about the idea and we describe design,we shown them the light part,fortunately worked at that time.

we learned timing and testing is very important in building progress, also, if we just focus in the one function,most probably we had better and more functional prototype at the final presentation.

It is more than 10 years that I am painting with the oil colors,I've seen affects of colors in human behavior, then I decide to think about something which is new with colors and different shapes, we were thinking about having such thing on the big wall in a sidewalk of the street makes people to having fun with that, different colors and light makes town more beautiful, different functionality makes people surprise by their different movement,some movement makes different sound some other move objects and some others change the different light.

we were think about the future work of our design,it is good for advertisement, also its useful in interior design and Architectures.

I decide to work on a Interactive painting gallery in my summer time,also one my group member, Sotiris, will join me.

On top there are some pictures and at the bottom there is a video of the final presentation.

In this week we were working on the installation of the Leds, Fan, servo motors also the painting part.

here is the final part pictures also there is some video that shows our Illuminative Art work and interact with users.

Our Project : Illuminating art

Our main project idea began in examining how we could connect motion with emotions. We defined an abstract vision of emotions, as colors, lights and shapes. We then transformed this into a picture of how this would look in a feasible project setup.

Purpose of this project:

• Emotions and motion, connected
• Architecture usage, different ways, interior design
• Explore interactive billboard techniques

building progress,week 1

Hi,

We start to build our project week ago,we want to working on the wood and moving object with sound effect also using Modern artistic drawing on it.

we divide the job between our group,Andreas is good with the wooden and he build the wooden part,Sotiris is good with the programing part,in

last week he work on that part, I'm responsible for the Artistic drawing part.I prepared material and I decide to use Acrylic color for that.

Reading Seminars

Hi,

Reading seminars up to now was very useful for me,I like the way that we divided in to the new groups, this gave me the chance to know more people in the class,after reading session, we had discussion about papers which helps me to have better understanding of the concept.

I learned many things like sometimes people need something interesting to entertain or play with that like drift table, I learned prototyping is one the most important part of the design,it give us chance to create what we have in our mind as a designer and make that things visualize to design team and perhaps users. by having very cheap materials we can test users also evaluate our design idea like airplane example.

Arduino

Hi,

Arduino is one of the easiest, flexible and interesting thing that I have ever seen. In my group we try to make different thing with that,we were starting by work on the led and then we try to mix 2 or more function with that

Design Idea and prototype

Hi,

In this part I'm gonna explain about our design Idea and prototype.

we were starting to work on our project idea which is about having lights and sounds features in an interactive way. First, we came up with the idea about using our fingers to both dim lights and control sounds.

Then, we came up with an interesting idea which is having a wall full of colorful lights and by touching that you can make shadows on the wall. Each different light makes a different sound and at the end you can play with it and possibly produce a melody.

To start working on the idea, we decide to implement the simple light sensor that can sense darkness by covering it.

First day

In this blog I'm gonna explain my experience from the first day of the class. I'm master student in field of Interactive System Engineering without any experience from physical world of technology,I took this course to see,feel and work with physical object and to understand limitation of our technology from physical world.

I'm always like to work in group of people with different experience, which this course provide this opportunely for me.
